Title: Penn 747
Post by: Shark Hunter on March 02, 2016, 11:44:24 PM
I picked up one of these on a whim.
It is first generation. Not too impressed. I can live with the alloy gears, but the main gear rides on nylon bushings instead of bearings.
I thought it would be just like a 750. Its still a solid reel.
Metal spool and Frame. It has a pivot like a 650ss, just bigger.

Those black spools are a direct swap with the gold SS versions of corresponding size.

When Penn was still selling spool decals, it was an easy way to create a blacked-out 7500 or 8500-SS--if that is your thing..;)

I have 750 bearings Keith. I don't think they will work here.
That main gear is a different bird. Its solid at one end like a penn spool.
It is still a cool reel. Just not what I was expecting.
I only gave $60 for it.
