Title: Tiagra 50 LRS 2speed
Post by: Marlinmate on June 10, 2022, 02:56:05 AM
If the Drag lever is loose...like there isn't any tension on it when pushing up the drag or pushing the lever into free spool..whats the cause?

Worn out belleville drag washers?

Did you check your preset knob to see if it has become loose?

Always bring the drag lever to free spool before setting the preset. Make small increments then bring the drag lever to Strike and check the drag. Preset setting should not make you lose free spool.

Do not exceed the reel's published drag values, you may risk damaging the bearings.

Hope this helped.

several possibilities, most bad.  it's going to have to come apart, starting with the preset knob.  :-\

There are nylon washers under the lever are worn out they need to be replaced or more added.

These washers are added when assembled to adjust the tension on the lever.

That's if something isn't broken!

I do get drag when the lever is forward.  These are charter boat reels that have ben fished hard and very often.

for this one, it might actually be worth sending it in to shimano to let them figure it out.  the techs there really are very good!!!!
