With the fishing heating up and large size fish being caught you guys should be getting excited!

:D That's an understatement, at least on my part. This will prob be my last San Diego trip as I'll be moving to Texas (New Braunfels area) in the near future. Looks like I'll need to learn how to fish the Gulf. I'm still looking to share a ride down and back on this trip. I'm more than willing to pay my way and help drive...

Cool

Ordering Reel Parts / Orvis retaining ring
Last post by jasonbleibtreu@mac.com - Today at 03:26:17 AM
I need two parts for an Orvis Mach IV reel. I have tried Orvis and they do not have the part.
The parts I need are seen below and are user friendly to install. It's the two parts in the lower left corner. Any ideas on where I can get them? I am based in New Zealand

Orvis Parts
Quant    Part #        Description
2        36            One-Way Clutch Bearing
2        37            Clutch Retainer

It was just a 16oz torpedo sinker with a home made 11/0 assist hook on 200# mono.

Well, my little group of German's and their pack leader/pod leader pretty much run the show around here! Good thing SWMBO is not on the AT Forum (I guess one of the perks of being a moderator  ;D ) because I would be sleeping outdoors if she knew I posted this photo publicly.  Needless to say, the pack sleep quite comfortably every night!  - johnOrca Pod.jpg

I'm with Swami; I suspect those are asbestos "brake lining" style biscuits that were typical of the time.  Regardless, they need to step aside.  Do a full service, upgrade to the CF drags, and enjoy that classic reel. - john
