Wow! What vivid colors and contrasts!
Those look HOT!
Perfect for a hotrod reel!!
Those are beautiful Sal-Cranks!

Fred
Those are SWEET!! Now we just need side plates that are custom painted with hot rod "flames"....
This is obviously a test.....and so far nobody has mentioned the larger knob actually says "Joe" right across the top....that's the coolest knob yet IMO

Maybe just optical illusion ?? ... or perhaps I've finally gone off the deep end. Either way both are very unique and sexy to boot.

Are you talking about Ruth or the knobs ??? Ether way I agree. ;) ;D....................joe
Joe, you need to get a hold of yourself ;D
I'm glad the handles made it to you and I'm also glad you like them.
Thank you Joe.
Sal
Outstanding work Sal.
Those are beautiful, wow!
Very, Very Nice !
I, want some ;D
Wow Sal, those are great looking. Keep up your great work. Thanks for sharing.👍🎣
Wow, Sal. Raising the bar... yet again.
Are the blades stock Penn?
Sal, very nice, and if I could ask where . How do you get the penn arm? Blade?
Just wondering. That's holding some of us back. 🤦♀️

Hey Gary, I get them at Mysticparts.com
Sal
Those are beautiful and look perfectly engineered. great work Sal.
Thanks for posting Joe.
Ted, can I have some of whatever you're taking?
Steve
Joe,
Those are truly awesome! And, great job Sal😁....
I thought Ted may have gone off the deep end, I went back and looked a couple of times, ...
I was about to say something, then one more look and it was right there ::)
Sure enough it was right there in front of me...lucky for me it wasn't a rattlesnake ;D
Brett
Lol, I'm sure Sal was messing with us all....and then Joe pictured it upside down... I used my phone to flip it over prior to my comment about "JOE" swirled into the epoxy.

It's true!
Here is what I saw....It looks a bit different now that it's uprighted, but still a possibility I've lost my marbles
Ted
Ted, I kept looking and said: what a heck is Ted talking about?...now I do see it, you were right all along ;)

Sal
Looked at it the other day and I could not see it. I just saw it now.
Someone has some photoshop skills ;)
Very cool stuff, those handles are awesome.
Where do you get your oil ports from?
Cool stuff bud,
Dom
I get those from a couple of different places, Dom.
I tried to get these, but shipping for a tiny package of 50 was over $100 :-\

Maybe someone here from Germany could do better.

And if you look hard enough you will see Ruth on the other knob :o ;D...................Joe
It's a cosmic sign.... like the face of Jesus appearing in a piece of toast.
-steve
Steve: I don't think that is that dramatic. Although Ruth and Joseph are in the Bible, I don't profess to being them.
Joe
P.S. By the way someone is messing with our heads, those knobs are messed with to make it look like those names. So look at my pictures again.
Sal, can you do his with any knob? I have some Newell replacement knobs that I purchased from Reelman well over a decade ago. They have no bushing or bearing. They are just held in place by the Newell handle screw.
Thanks,
Frank

Hello Frank, if the screw is not welded with permanent Loctite, of course I could, but might not be able to give you an oil port.
I can't make my own shaft... YET, but I'm looking for a benchtop lathe. It will be some time still, these knobs and arms get expensive quick.
I do have ways of making them work with what I have, but depends on the type of knob.
Sal
Sal
Hey Sal.
No oil port or shaft. Newell knobs are just a hunk of plastic.
Oh, I see.
This is the same situation here:
I could do it, but if you wanted the same shape as the one you're showing, it could be done, but requires lots of hand shaping.
I could only turn it 50%, the rest would be by hand. I'm limited with tools.
Sal
Sal, is that round wood colored knob 100% turned or did you have to hand shape it? I like that shape even better than what I was going to send you.
I don't want this to be labor intensive for you and I'm open to any design you can come up with. The less hand shaping the better.
Thanks again for making another one of my reels (US 113N) come to life, Sal, I truly appreciate your work and craftsmanship!
Darin
Oh Snap!
That handle looks Amazing. :o
Sal I did find a US company that does oil ports:
https://www.precisionmatthews.com/shop/6mmbrassoiler/
Thanks guys! Chris, those are brass and I'm not sure how long they would last,
I found these zinc-plated steel, they would be a little more durable
https://www.mcmaster.com/oil-ports
The ones I've been using are stainless steel.
Thanks for the compliment on the knobs guys.
I make these at cost plus a couple of dollars to cover cutting tools and sandpaper in case anyone wanted one.
Sal
Another example of Sals great talent is his sharing with many others on this site. I recently opened a box and found this big red beauty. I love the size, colors, offset, stainless 2 position arm, and an oil port.
This is well thought out and will be tested against a barn door 🚪 with a big mouth 👄.
Thanks Sal for thinking 🤔 of me. I want to take you fishing. Point your compass northwest.
Sal Gary`s handle looks great, thanks for showing us Gary, I like the idea of having the owners name on the handle, & not on a face or tail plate or the chrome rings. cheers Don.
That looks great,,,, ;D
Enjoy it Gary! Let's hope it will bring you as much luck as the "Red Cooler".
Sal
Looks awesome, Gary, now go catch some bigguns ;D

Finally getting around to posting this. Sorry it took so long Sal!
Sal's knob is the icing on the cake for the P21xn build I did for my girlfriend. P21xn, Cortez plates, Broadway Dom's titanium blade and star. SS gear sleeve and DD Stainless bridge from Alan C...
Now I just gotta finish the custom wrap I'm building to match it! ;D
Mike
Gorgeous reel Mike...did your girlfriend like it?

Sal
Thanks Sal! She loves it. ;D When she was opening it up on Christmas morning, I told her it was something that would make her reel better. She exclaimed "NO!! IT'S PERFECT THE WAY IT IS!!!"
Then she saw your handle and plotzed....She's totally in love with this reel!
Thanks again!
Mike
Beautiful reel, and the knob is the cherry on top!!!
Here's one I just finished with one of Sal's amazing creations, coolest knob yet he's made me!
Great build, Darin. I like your color choices. That handle is perfect and looks like it' gonna sit cozy in your girl's hand.
Loving Sal's new creations!
Thanks for showing,
Dom
