Title: Okuma Makaira 20ii-SEa not “clicking” when increasing/decreasing drag via lever
Post by: papadakisstavro@gmail.com on September 17, 2022, 05:27:07 AM
Hello, this is my first post and I'm hoping I'm in the correct place. I bought my 2nd Okuma Makaira 20 today - unfortunately, there is an issue. When I increase or decrease drag via the lever drag, my reel does not "click"(make noise). After looking at the parts diagram I believe it to be one of the control pins or springs associated with it, but I'm not 100% sure. Other than that the reel seems to function perfectly - but I am unsure if this little part can cause further issues. Any help/input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is the reel used? If it's new, make it Okuma's problem.

If it's a used one, remove the drag lever then the screw holding on the "Lever side chip" (part 605-1) and clean out the gunk (probably crusted salt) in the holes with the ceramic balls and small springs in them.

Then give the reel a full service, because if those detent balls have gotten stuck from salt/dirt then the reel probably hasn't been very well looked after.
