Hey Brian. Do you have a kit left? I have one of the reissue P series 229s from the early 2000s. I've upgraded the old ones and figure it will be the same doing this one (as in no difference in tolerances)?

I fish quite often with DQ220 and 221 with mono and later use mono as backing but never have any plastic spool broke because mono line .I do use drill to load line to spool .Also never have line slip if using mono backing, I do have line slip when not using mono backing

A plastic spool failing (I'd be devastated if it happened on a good fish):

FYI, Fred, I am, and have, living proof that skirted graphite spools will also crack and break from full spooled mono pressure. I have 3 that came with ABU Cardinal 50 & 150 and Zebco Cardinal 550 series reels I purchased online a few years back.

If you aren't going to accept my apology, then move along.

Yes. Worked amazing.
This was all done with only NevrDull and suede polishing.
So much easier than polish compound in tub.

I was with my son dropping off furniture at his girlfriend's childhood home.      Of  course, when I saw a fishing rod in the corner of the garage.  I asked "Whose is that?"    "It was my grandpas but I'm not sure if it works"    I made a beeline over.    Dirty! With a bobber and very small j hook and a ABU 5600 CA reel basically working!!
(I have a couple of 5500 C3 that I love.)   So she checked and I took it home.  I've cleaned it up so she can now use her grandpas reel!!  ;D
For basic reference with some minor differences, I used:

When looking on different sites, the 5600 CA seems to go for premiums (just in case to keep the value, I did clean and kept it all to original parts and drags). Came out great.  She wants to keep the reel (sentimental reasons) so she is not looking to sell, I'm just wondering why they go for so much $$$
(Yes. She is  going to fish it!)
