Heddon / Heddon's Sons 100 spin cast
Last post by JeffG - Today at 01:03:25 AM
Good evening all!

I know it's not a typical spinning reel, but I'm stumped. I took this reel apart to clean and I for the life of me can't figure out how the anti-reverse works.

The main gear bushing is smooth, nothing for any kind of dog or alike. I just don't see what the spring does. I'm assuming there is something missing and can't find a schematic. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Jeff

Mitchell / Re: Mitchell 351 for a righty?
Last post by piscesman2 - Today at 12:58:08 AM
The Mitchell 351 was not an early version of the 350. Rapid then 350 5/1 then 350 then 350A. The 351 is a lefthanded version of the 350, right hand crank. Mitchell made that plate set up for the 350 but engraved 351. If that plate was put on the 351 the writing would be upside down but fully functional with the proper gears for the 351. Mitchell often made mistakes in engraving reels but would let parts slide through as long as they worked as not to lose money.

I've talked to the seller/maker. He's working on round 2 and we are discussing what other reels the handle can potentially be modified to fit. Happy ending.

Alan how much do you want for one?

Let's call this throw back Thursday.  Going through mom's picture books I found this picture of me from October 1972.  Making me eight years old.  The notes say it ws on the Umpqa River in Oregon, the rod was a Browning, 300 Mitchell with 6 lb test.  The lure if I remember correctly was a gold colored spoon, hammered on one side.  Sadly we were traveling by car and ended up donating the fish to a restaurant in exchange for a salmon steak dinner.  Bill
