Alan,
Would these folks have a similar chart for dacron braid so I could use a caliper to determine the test on reels I acquire with serviceable dacron on the spool

I don't think you can measue braid diameter with calipers. Your measurement would vary depending on the pressure applied. The only way I've forund to measure any soft/flexible material is with an optical measuring microscope. I have one if you want it! - shipping costs might be a problem ;D ;D ;D
Buy a cheap digital one from Fleabay ;)

any simple jewelry wire gauge "micro-enough" for better guessing w/ heavy stuff, at least?

or would that be a "wire gauge gauge"...  or, wire gauge gage...  whatever
there has to be a micro version jewelers look at, through a loupe
