I've seen plumbers use bread to block the water when repairing copper water lines but I think that takes the cake. Wonder how & who thought that procedure up?

Am I going nuts or did someone recently show a video of doing this with paper towels soaked in scotch?  Or maybe it was Crown Royal?  It's become a blur.

I've done the same thing with thick grease...like the "old fashioned" wheel bearing grease. The bread trick looks to be less messy, though ! Of course it only works on a blind hole .
