Title: Avet JX 6.0 Single Speed -- Can you swap in 4.6 gears
Post by: SeaBush on April 25, 2019, 04:59:04 PM
I was wondering if anyone ever tried swapping in shorter gears for the JX to change gears.

I have considered having a separate set of gears for different uses for a couple of these, just wondered if anyone has tried and has any inside information.

If not, I may try myself anyway.

I've never done it but think you probably can. Swapping the other way -- putting 6:1 gears in a 4.6:1 reel -- may not work because I **think** the right side plate on the 6.0 reel is a bit larger to accommodate the larger main gear.

I have found Scott at Avet to be good about sharing technical information.  You might give him a call to eliminate any uncertainty.

Thanks for responding. I think you are right about the lower gear reel not having enough space. I will try avet.
