Perfect timing - There's a Mitchell 300 on its way to me as I type... I had one as a teen (WAY before the turn of the century) and don't know what happened to it, bought one off EBay for old time's sake.

Just slip in a carbontex washer of the same size. These reels generally produce very modest drag and have just one drag washer in them.

These reels are from a bygone era when the drag matched the engineering of the reel to keep it in operation for decades. Now reels have drags put in them that will rapidly destroy them  ;).

I noticed that the man servicing the reel, was using a block of wood that had been carved to hold the reel in place.

Anyone else here do this, and if so how is it done ?

Thanks,

Terry.
