pj and i are going fishing. we've got room for a few more.....
well, actually, i just booked the entire boat so there's room for 23 more. i've been sitting on $1500 worth of gift certificates and i'm going to cash them in!!!! i just need you guys to cover the balance.
the avenger is run by sal rocha's nephew. many of you know sal as the skipper of the starfire out of morro bay landing. the avenger is scheduled for a 3/4 day trip on june 7th. if we get 25 guys, then it will only cost you $45 for a 3/4 day or $75 for a full day, not the normal $100 or $130. i was going to adjust the cost based on the number of guys that can go. it does not include the jackpot, food, drink, fish cleaning or crew tip.
mom has the club house reserved for us as well. there are 6 beds, a couch, two lounge chairs and floor space. if you can make it, please respond here and let me know. i'm really looking forward to getting out!

Neil Najarro
I'd prefer the floor so that opens up a couch!
Gotta put me in with Wayne and Dominick - I checked with the Boss today (not SWMBO, the ones that sign my checks) and since I am on an 8 day later in the month, they weren't keen on me taking a Monday and Tuesday off. We love Morro Bay (SWMBO would come in a heartbeat) but have to be next time. - john
10 more spots open!

the final check is going out today.

Besides the Club House, what hotel is everybody staying at? Bill

Alan how are we paying you for our share?????
I've already paid for the boat in full, but only a little more than $1000 was out of pocket. I just want that portion covered. If there are 20 guys, then you would just give me something like $50 and we're good. I think it's $45 per person if we fill the boat with 25 guys.
$50 for a day of fishing in Morro Bay??!!!! BEST DEAL EVER!!!!
And when you include the Cayucos Beach House (The Club House) with dinner and drinks with all the notable luminaries attending,
WISH I COULD MOVE MY TUESDAY CLIENT MEETING!!!!!!
You all have a great time, and if you don't, SOMETHING will have SERIOUSLY GONE WRONG!!!!!

Just pulled my Achilles' tendon. Thought it was minor and would go away, but has been getting worse and worse the last 2 days that I can hardly walk with crutches. If I heal up, I'll be there but at this point, I have to just hope. Will let you know what the dr. says after my appointment on Friday.

This past Monday I had my last 3 upper molars pulled, bone grafts and stitches and a temporary denture provided. What an adventure this is for me. Soft food diets just aren't satisfying. I know this has nothing to do with the trip but it does give me several more weeks to heal up before the trip! I'll be there if I have to bring soup and yogurt. They go well with Whisky and cigars. Can't wait to hang out and fish with you very one. I'm tying up a couple secret weapons sure to attract the big ones.

David I hope you heal up fast so you can enjoy the feast on Sunday night! Looking forward to checking out your "secret weapons"!
Here's a start, haven't decided how I'm gonna rig the giant squid yet, I'm thinking a sliding sinker and a fingernail float of some kind to give it some lift.
David here's my secret weapon I'll be using on the trip... It's a 8oz jig head with a 4oz diamond jig attached to it and glow in the dark squid!
I've tried to find a jig that rockfish won't bite................ especially pesky yelloweye. If you find something please let me know. Of course it needs to be liked by halibut and lings ! ;D

Alan: You did not talk Ben into going ???
Todd
Ugghhh!!! Totally forgot! I'll ping him!!!
Sounds like a good time, too bad my dance card is pretty full over the next month. Good luck guys.
Still spots available so lets fill the boat!!!!
Alan, are you thinking of the large whole block of frozen squid for the boat?
Dave is going to try some big plastics, but I will probably go with your method of whole squid on shrimp flies. I am just wondering if I need to get some squid at the market in Sunnyvale beforehand.
Thanks
Rob
i will confirm, but the boat should be able to supply whole squid for us.
Thanks for trying to get us whole squid!
There's still a few spots open so sign up and join us for a great time!
I'm heading down to Los Cabos June 8th. I will be warm and toasty. Dominick

With most projects done (although as one finishes, another project always seems to come along), I'm back in The Game. Woohoo... as long as the truck behaves thru the trip! ETA, Sun afternoon. Holler if anyone needs a ride! I'll be coming down from Vallejo via 680 then 101, I suppose.
Anyway, thanks, Alan! I'll have the cash/check/whatever works for you when I get there! If floorspace is lacking, I'll sleep in the truck. Looking fwd to seeing y'all, again ;>

all of that will be fine. gentlemen, thank you!!!!!
I plan to arrive between 3-4pm on Sunday. I'll be picking up three nice big tri-tips for dinner Sunday night which I'll throw on the grill around 5-530 so that we can eat around 6-630pm!
Looking forward to seeing everyone!!!!
What kind of beer does anybody want? Bill
cold...... ;D
Pre-fishing on the Starfire today!
The squid is really tiny. If you want bigger squid, you'll have to grab a box locally. Also, it's been as tough bite. Fish are smaller, not the jumbos like before.
Alan!
Man, I forgot how BIG OF A GUY is Mike Oddo!!!!

So what was the fish that won the golden carp?
What species flatfish for PJ? Unless I mixed it up from the picture, they look like right-eyed(side) flounders.
It looks like a Petrale sole. We catch those here in BC , very tasty.
Cheers:
Todd
I think the hands (both young ladies) said they were some kind of sole.
Tim wins the Golden Carp, although he is trying to side step the honor.
Hunting and pecking all day , the the Skipper took us kelp paddling which filled the sacks at the end .
All told a really fun trip with a great group of folks .
More pics....

Oops , looks like Dave Hall wins the Golden Carp !

It was an Honor being the winner of this trips Golden Carp Trophy.
I will guard it well during my brief tenure.

Well into the morning, several individuals didn't experience hng overs unti the afternoon because they woke up still inebriated, lots of hair of the dog on the pier before we left.
Yes, Fred, I was silly enough to put a shrimp fly into my thumb while loading it with squid. At least I knew it was sharp!

Guys!
This looked like a great trip, good to see everyone having a wonderful time together!
Ron - The Man - Jones? Did you lose your scissors?? You are looking great - thank you for visiting.
BUTT, let's get to the serious stuff!!!
My wife, Jennifer, made a cooking sheet of her famous double chocolate brownies for just PJ!!! CORRECT, PJ enjoyed her tray of sweets she made for our last trip, that Jennifer wanted to make more for PJ! What a special guy!!!

Jonathan and I enjoyed a cup of coffee together while I dropped off the brownies and frozen squid, he in kind handed me two-quart jars full of his homemade salsa! And I handed one off to Dominick who is in Los Cabos, right now, enjoying a week of fishing with his lifelong buddy, Joe.
WOW!!! Jonathan, you NEED TO POST this recipe for all to enjoy!!!! Better than most of the homemade salsa I've enjoyed while in Baja Mexico!!!! REELY!!!
Enjoyed a few heaping spoonfuls on my scrambled eggs and hashbrown potatoes this am. THANK YOU SIR!!!!

Whoever invented the phrase "better late than never" obviously never missed out on home made brownies !!
Just want to say my wife Lee and I had a great time. She really enjoyed talking with PJ and Jonathan. It was really good to put faces to names and meeting more of the family. I would like to especially thank Alan for being the Charter Master and Club House Host. It takes a special kind of person to put up with this bunch of pirates for 2+ days. Bill

The brownies were a special gift to me and i brought them home and shared them with my firefighters as we were doing some prescribed burns the last 2 days!!!!
Awesome, now that is an acceptable reason for not setting them out, they would have been gone in a heartbeat and nothing left for your most deserving hard working firefighters. I'm sure they appreciated them.

Panko and herb broiled sole with oven roasted potatoes!
Petrale sole - one of the best!
I would love to see a better picture of the "sole" but I'm pretty sure it is a petrale although I'm familiar with the 16 or so species of flat fish here in BC there may be some different species in Cali. The one thing they have in common is being very tasty.
