Title: Reeder McGill Reegil Spinning Rod
Post by: Balvar24 on April 22, 2023, 08:28:51 PM
Picked one of these up.  Any information on them?

This one has the old tobacco colored blank.  Action seems to be about a medium.

Any connection to Wright McGill?

No model number.  Just has a decal and Vancouver Washington on it.  In good shape.  Someone has cleaned the cork up a bit.  It's got red anodized aluminum slip rings that may/may not be original.

Looks to be an old rod with stainless guides.  7' length.  2-Piece.  I may track down an old DQ Finessa to go on it.

just vague peudo-memories of photos & reading bits about Reeder:
known for decent affordable LONG light[er] rods -- 10-12'+ S/SH, Noodle, etc.
wrapped in US (maybe Midwest or PNW  ??? ), but blanks may be Japanese
extra-fuzzy mental image of yellow(ish) glass, but period-correct for tobacco (70's?)

I'd say this is more like 50's vintage.  The first guide is pretty small compared to today's standards.  Also, the blank has a pattern like an old old Conolon.  Phenolic resin maybe?
