Title: 533 3.2 conversion
Post by: Newell Nut on March 22, 2018, 05:23:41 PM
Nearly two years ago Cortez Conversions made some very nice sleeves to go into the 3.2 pinion to make this conversion possible. Originally I did a temporary installation in case I changed my mind. I used rod tip top epoxy to hold it in place which worked fine until recently. I did not have my drag as tight as normal so the spinning heated up the gear and pinion. Caused a temporary problem but was able to continue fishing.

The FIX: It was just too easy. I noticed on the handle side of the pinion that the ID has a slight chamfer. The light came on. Found a center punch with the right diameter and flared the edge of the custom sleeve. It is now permanent and can be removed some day with a carbide dremel bit.
