Title: Shimano Baitrunner 4500 Wobble
Post by: orsteelheadduck on April 02, 2013, 06:17:07 PM
Hello all,

I have a 4500 Baitrunner that is in great shape, feels smooth when you reel and everything seems to be working perfectly. This is my first large spinning reel and the issue I am having is there is a wobble to the reel when you reel at a fair to fast pace. I have not mounted the reel as I don't have a spinning rod large enough yet to test it out. It feels like the rotor is out of balance, but nothing looks bent, the bail arm is strait and works like it should, as far as I can tell.  Anyone have any ideas as to what could be my problem, if there is a problem?

Thank you

Orlando

It's really not a problem.  It's a matter of balance and weight.  Shimano could have placed more/larger weights to balance the rotor, but the reel would weigh more so they tend to use a little weight for counter balance. Sometimes its too much, sometimes it's too little.

It will most likely feel much less wobbly and balanced when mounted on a reel.
