Title: 12 VISX - why so many screw holes on the side of the spool?
Post by: pitchinwedge on October 22, 2020, 09:41:54 PM
Took apart my 12VISX for the first time.  There are six screw holes and what appear to be three locating divots on the left side of the spool.  The spool ratchet (key no. 66A) gets screwed onto the spool with only the inner three holes.  What the other screw holes are for?   Also, noticed the gold finish wearing off on the right side of the spool.  I think is due to the spool moving laterally in and out of the frame when the lever is thrown in and out of free. Anyone know about these things?

my 12 vsx (not visx) had wear on the right sided lip of the spool.  i think it's from the spool shaft flexing, allowing the spool to rub against the frame under a severe load.

not sure about the extra holes....   :-\
