Title: How To Identify Which Generation Penn 7500 SS
Post by: hotajax on April 08, 2023, 12:39:34 AM
I have no clue which generation I have.  Could be 2nd or 3rd.  Just dunno, and I don't have the box.
Thanks.  Hot Ajax

Look at the main gear. If it's. Not brass it's late generation. If the back side of the handle has threads all the way to the edge it's early 2nd gen.

Jason:  OK, definitely brass main gear and pinion.
I'm not sure I follow you about the handle.  Can you try another way to describe it, please?  I can tell you this.  The threaded portion of the handle that goes through the main gear, has both a right handed thread and a left-handed thread.  The very end of the handle shaft is normal right hand.  Is this what you're talking about?  Sorry for being obtuse.  Thanks.

Yup. I believe that puts it as early 2nd gen. You have the more desirable gear.

A finely manufactured piece of gear.  Thanks for the input. Jake
