I swapped out the drag disc's on a Torium 20 and after re-assembly, the anti-reverse pawl will not engage.  I assumed that I lost a spring in my disassembly, but after reviewing the schematic, there is not a spring.  I can get the pawl to engage with the side plate off, but apparently the re-installation causes the pawl to stick open.

Any suggestions?

Did you put it in upside down so that it faces the wrong direction?

Also check the pawl retainer that has the 2 screws to hold it down.

Pawl is installed correctly (kinda hard to install this one backwards--the hook would be pointing the wrong way.) I checked the pressure plate for the pawl and this could be installed backwards, but confirmed with the exploded drawing that it is installed correctly.  Everything spins fine until I tighten down the right side plate.  Then everything spins, but the pawl is stuck open.

I puta hand-formed spring on my Tor. 16(as well as change out those brittle dartanium discs) and am much happier with its clickin self, which means I'll get bit more often! Right? Right?
Took about 3 trys to get it right, there's nota lotta room under there. Also, removed the "dog ears"to make it all work.

Photo of the stripped down gear stack would be helpful. I've seen pros put the dog cover on upside down, it won't bind until the stack is tightened down. It looks like it should go on the other way, but look at the curvature next to the main gear, needs to clear. A photo would be helpful to determine the problem.

All of my pictures are gone. The retainer over the dog is a stamped part. The flat side goes up.
