Title: PG CS501
Post by: swill88 on June 13, 2015, 11:25:49 PM
Just picked up a NIB CS501.
Any recommendations on upgrades? Drags? Should I look for spare parts?
Any pointers to pass on?
Putting it on my Calstar 800ML deckhand and plan to over use it. Maybe a heavier rod?
Comments are welcome.

standard bearing service, grease the drags, light coat of grease everywhere else, handle grip upgrade options.  i added a 3/0 grip.  i have a dozen 501's and 551's scattered through the garage, somewhere, and a few extra parts, but not much.  at 15 pounds of drag, you will likely damage the gears.  stay with 50# spectra and a 30# topshot with 10 pounds of drag and the reel will serve you well for years to come!
