When applying grease to gears, what do you use? Brush? A-tips? And where do I get them?
flux brush from the hardware store on the corner.

Brush, acid/flux brushes used in soldering/brazing are good and durable.

Missed it by that much....... Maxwell Smart
I also use a flux brush. They have just the right stiffness and leave just the right amount of grease.

I use a pastry basting brush that's been cut back to make it stiffer. I already had a few otherwise I'd go with the previous suggestions - flux brush.
Cheap, relatively soft, fine, artist size paint brush, cut back so it's stiffer. Gets grease inbetween gear teeth and can swirl on light coat to flat surfaces. Flux brush for drag washers. Hobby/craft store.

More often than not I use a finger.
Tooth brushes for me......get them free when visiting the dentist....Bill
Gee Bill, must be good over there, don't get anything free from the dentists over here, only a huge bill cheers Bill keep well Don.
I use an old tooth brush and/or a flux brush cut down to make it stiffer. Of course, sometimes I just use my finger. It all depends on what I'm greasing.

My wife has all kinds of paintbrushes from doing acrylics and watercolors, so I just raid her stash. ;D
Acid and tooth brushes for applying grease and drag grease. I have one of each type for each grease.
For gears in particular, I use a tooth brush, dental picks and a small screw driver to clean out the gears. Then I use a grease tooth brush to put a light coat of grease in the gear teeth then apply grease with an acid brush for a slight thicker coat. I use Evinrude triple guard for conventional gears, and penn grease for spinner gears.
I only mess with spinners and they can require a little finesse to get into some of those tight little cracks & crevices, so I use these. They seem to last forever as the only one I've ever broken out of the pack is over 10 years old. :)

Small wood handle brush. The bristles don't come off easily.
I've spread at least two pounds of penn blue with this one. ;)
Toothbrushes, rod coating brushes, small paint brush, Q-tips.
