Title: Daiwa Opus Plus 5000
Post by: Nick20722 on March 25, 2013, 10:04:35 PM
Posting for a friend, looking for help. Thanks!

I had 2 of my diawa opus plus 5000 screw up on me yesterday, when tension was applied, i.e fish on, every 360° turn of the handle, the spool itself would make an approximate 1/4 turn, and make a clicking noise while doin so. Any ideas on what this could be??

Let's not start a war here between brands.  Brand selection is a personal matter.

If the spool takes a 1/4 turn at each 360 rotation, it very well could be the roller bearing that is bad.  Even spinners have a max pressure point based on the angle of the line from the last guide to the roller bearing.

Sorry for that - just pasted the comment in.  I modified to remove that.  Could it also be a worn out pinion gear that is causing the "clicking" noise?

if you spin the spool, does the spool have the same clicking sound?
