Title: Replace clicker
Post by: Kalbi on February 04, 2020, 05:58:59 AM
I'm gonna try and replace a clicker on an old Surfmaster 250 side plate.  I got info from older posts about removing the click button with a small dremel grinding stone, supporting the button with a soft wood, and using a punch and hammer to peen the new button on.  Anyone have any other advise they're willing to share with me before I go to work on the side plate.

This has been working for me:

Plates are not that expensive if you mess up.
I have dozens of 100-150 and 200 in new condition, But I don't think I have any 250's.

Good luck!

Thanks Sal, that link was helpful.  I used a drill to get the old clicker tongue of and peened the new clicker on.  While I was at it, I also magged it. I saw an old thread where you used the mag 525 magnets to mag a reel.  So I ordered one along with my clicker parts.  Works pretty good.

Nice job on that.  I would have guessed it would take a lot more magnets than that.
