Title: Accurate BX2-600 with a Narrow Range of Drag
Post by: fishesman on February 22, 2019, 01:51:07 AM
I have a BX2-600 that I bought used,  but it's in mint condition. I tore it down and cleaned and lubed it. Upon reassembly I noticed that the drag range is very narrow. When the drag is set correctly at the strike position it is also very heavy when the lever is in the lowest position. Conversely, when I set the drag so the lowest position feels normal (compared to other Accurate reels I own) it has only a few pounds of drag at strike. I didn't notice this before disassembly,  but it's new to me and I may have overlooked it. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Is it possible that I reassembled something incorrectly? The reel feels smooth and normal in all other respects.

it's something i've seen before.  to fix it, you have to grind down the cam so that it has a less aggressive ramp.  it's very hard to get right.   :-\
