Title: Shimano Tyrnos vs Daiwa SLT, vs older Penn International 30
Post by: Djamiller on October 31, 2013, 04:00:05 PM
Right now I'm looking for a solid 30 class reel, preferably one with a metal frame and I'm on a college student budget. I've narrowed it down to a used older style International 30, a used Daiwa SLT 30, or a used Shimano Tyrnos, my budgets around $230 max, I just wanted everyones opinion on these reels. I alsO have been considering the Okuma Cavalla, my biggest fear is trying to get parts for it in the future though since its been discontinued.

Are you going to be fishing with 30# mono?

I'll most likely be spooling with 40-50lb mono, maybe doing a backing of braid since I still have a bunch sitting here waiting for a reel.
