Title: Spinfisher 712z
Post by: wong2a9 on June 12, 2012, 06:32:09 PM
I know there are a lot of guys on here who restore reels and I have an old penn that was sitting and the main gear got stuck.  I've tried to get the gear out to no avail. If you could get the gear out (probably needs a new main gear) you could probably get it working again.  If anyone wants it just reply and let me know. You can have it if you pay for shipping.

I'd love the challenge of an old 712 !  I am in Connecticut, let me know what you'd like for shipping and I will get it mailed out to ya !

I've seen a gear puller used on it before. Don't know where the thread is.....I think it was for a 704, but same principle.

I've just got my first 712, a greenie that looks in good nick. Has the tungsten carbide roller which is good, but also has an aluminium main which I've not seen before when searching the web. Are they rare? I intend to fish it but would reconsider if it was not that common.

Cheers,
