Hi guys, I just wanted to share my annual fishing compilation video: Sea Fishing In Wales: 2013. I hope the music choice doesn't effect your view ability due to copyright infringement. If you don't like the music, you can always turn it down. ;D
Our shore fishing isn't the greatest size wise, but I hope you enjoy something a little different.

Cool video of the big waves. A lot of energy being dissipated on that breakwater!
I liked the choice of music , too. Carmina Burana, by Carl Orff. I've performed it multiple times.

But it's nice to see anyways, and a few nice large Senators as well.

That's some big hammer! I do have a question about the eyes. Can an eye be injured when the fish has rolled on it's side and is being drug along the bottom?
I don't know Doc. You ever get any in the Vet office? ;)
You can show me when you are tail roping one. ;D
I've worked on a manatee, no fish. As for a dangerous animal, the tiger was pretty intimidating. I hope I get to help land one of these.

They use that head like a metal detector when looking for rays and when found drive there heads into the sand and pin/attack the rays so i would imaging the eyes have a number of layers of protection. The only thing injured on that big hammerhead was his pride...
Thanks for the reply. I'm relieved to learn that. A fish of that size is really vulnerable to injury just from it's own weight on the sand. On top of that, an injury to the sensory organs could result in death by slow starvation.
I've been invited to join Shark Hunter in May for my first beach shark fishing experience. I know that catch and release is a prime consideration for the dedicated beach sharkers, and that's a big factor in my going on that trip.

Penn Rules! ;D They are actually just coaching here and let William do the work.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtsnMj_XA5s
That looked a little painful with the harness and no plate! :o
I would not even attempt to hold that 14/0 up without a fighting belt and Harness. Even a 12/0 with a 100lb fish on the end is a lot to hold on to until you get strapped in. Once you sit the gimbal in the fighting belt, It is instant relief! Then you just lean back. That upper body harness is a Disaster waiting to happen.
I put my harness on unknowingly upside down and a little 4' Blacktip had me staggering around. I couldn't get my Balance. It put the pressure point in the center of my back.
You need that leverage on your legs and your Butt! Thats why they call it a Bucket Harness. It makes it a whole lot easier! ;) Plus its easier on the Boys. ;D He had to be feeling that the next day.
I gotta get down-under!

As an amateur video,er I,d like to know more and improve fishing video. :) What programs or apps to you folks use or recommend?
Im interested in editing mostly and need the starter information. Ive got Go Pro Editing now. It seems to be propitiatory to their cameras footage. Thats ok? Butt? are other programs able to use the go pro footage and use it ? Are other than go pro cameras better to use with some better editing programs? I would like to edit my Nikon video stuff and other pocketcamera footage as well..... I presently use Vimeo and U- tube for sending and thats ok, What better options are there?
Any information or tips will be appreciated, keep it simple, I,m no Geek! ??? Thanks.
I'm going to pay close attention to your responses Gary. I've been using Wombel MPEG Video Wizard for years. It was dirt cheap when I got it but costs $150 now. There's a 30 day free trial. It was cumbersome to use at first. I'm used to it now but keep thinking there must be something inexpensive and better out there. It's good with my Nikon videos, easy to cut and add captions, and the *.mpg files easily upload to YouTube. But, I haven't figured out how edit Samsung phone videos with it.
-steve
Thanks mr. oct1 for the reply. After reviewing the program, this program might be over my head? The free trial will tell me if its something I can use tho. I,m hoping there is something simpler for the entry level video,er. Butt walking may lead to running? Thanks and Happy Holidays to All!

Corrosion is why. Some people will spin the spool on a line winder while working & coating the spool with hard wax others apply grease & other stuff... Jeff

While anodizing does help on aluminum frame & spool the salt will still eventually bring corrossion. Always good to rinse spool off & never a bad idea to rinse line & toss it or at least string it out to dry. But prepping a spool with wax or grease goes a lomg ways to keep corrossion away.
Ive only had to deal with it rarely being most of my fishing is fresh water.... Jeff

Hi Alan, yes I tagged him, I did have gloves but you'll notice I only put one on.. and yep last wrap was on the wrong hand 😢 it hurt!! Hook was a Gamakatsu SL12 saltwater fly hook rigged on a skirt. Great hook to set into marlin but don't use more than 5kg drag. Hook straightens as I tagged him because the fish takes off!.
I'm using a 50w but drag was set safely fish that hook. I have 4 50's, when inshore I fish the light hooks but when I get out wide I'll set them up accordingly. Saves me buying more reels 😂

They're a great inshore hook to troll with because of the high hook set %
Thicker gauge and it's hand filing etc. for the bigger stuff I like to take off the knife edge on the inside and make one on the outside. That way I believe it won't create such a big hole in fish mouths. Just a theory but hey works for me.
I'd like to show off another shot that got me started on writing articles for a magazine called BlueWater here in Australia.
Another juvenile Black marlin. This one was hooked with a slow trolled bridled slimey mackerel which I think in the USA are call Chub mackerel ??

Thanks for the happy avent Happy, well done, & thanks for showing, can you tell me what time of the year when you caught & tagged it, just trying to get some idea of the water temp, they get the odd marlin West of Fremantle, in what they call the Rottnest trench, about February/March, this is on the West coast of Australia, for the members that are not formilia with Australia.
Daron-thanks for showing the torture chamber, I dont think , I will try it though, cheers Don.
Wow, hard to believe with the torture chamber thing. Like to get a up close look at those reels, esp. the lip of the spool on the spinner.
Wish I could find a dryer like that..... with analog controls instead of all the digital stuff that lasts about a year in our humidity. If I had one, I wouldn't beat it up with a bunch of reels like that.

I got a older one with non-digital controls from a condo owner doin a rehab., one of those over/under space saver units. Lasted 1yr. for us + whatever rental-user abuse happened probably for years(Whirlpool " Twin-Thin"). Excuse the thread tangent.

Thanks for the kind words mate. Caught in February and water temp would've been around 25deg-26 deg as it usually is that time of year as the EAC pumps down.. not odd to see 27deg out wide.. fish was caught in 50m off Long Reef in North Sydney.. only a few kms out.

Concerning the mako, that is an awesome catch; however, the fish went through hell on those rocks and during the pictures. They die really really easy, I'm not certain that it is going to live very long. In addition, mako is an amazing shark to eat, my favorite for sure, I think I would have kept it.

Us FB refusers can't watch anything since it isn't public. Too bad it's not on YouTube instead. :-\
