Title: Can Nanofil line be spliced?
Post by: smnaguwa on May 24, 2017, 01:48:04 AM
I accidentally cut my Nanofil 14# test line. As it is expensive, can I splice the cut ends together?

You can really only splice hollow braided line - I believe Nanofil is a fused line or unifilament.

Tie a uni-uni knot and use a drop of super glue and you'll be good to go. Not a pretty as a hollow splice but it will hold.

If you have some hollow braid you could use that to splice the 2 ends together - it works with ordinary mono. If Nanofil is very 'slippy' it may not hold but it's worth a try :-\

Thanks for the replies. Berkley hasn't answered my email.

Yes...Nano is very slippery...but I have successfully joined it with a uni to uni knot. It just takes a bit of patience making sure all is tightened well before trimming free ends.  8)
