Post by: roadrunner on September 16, 2023, 12:21:11 AM
reel is silver w/blue lever drag handle.
Need help removing the CLIP = part #66 on attached photo.
Can not really see clip in reel but lever drag w/CAM A in it will not come off.  Already applied heat, ultrasound, penetrating oil, etc. and still on there. Can not find tutorial to help me.

advice please or direct me to tutorial of reel that shows clip removal. Found some but those versions do not have the clip.

It's been a couple of years since I worked on a saltiga, and I just cannot remember. Sorry.

Just finished an LD35 2 speed yesterday, but it has gone back sadly.  The clip is an external C clip, you will need the outward opening pointy nose C clip pliers to remove.  You should see the clip after you remove the drag preset knob and upper cam plate, it sits in a groove just below the hex shaped post in the well.
Can you post a picture of what you can see?

Thank you for the help.
Will try to take photos on re-assembly to post on the Daiwa board
enlarging the picture below, think I see the clip opening = the hole/dark opening where ring ends almost touch.

off to get the snap ring pliers

Oh that clip. I hate those clips. I used two pick to open them and push it just enough to get a jewelers screw driver in the opposite end to pull it off. Likely not the best and most efficient method but it's what I can do with the tools that I have.

Looks like they have gone cheap-#### on the clip, the one I just had was previous model and had the holes in the clip for the plier nose pins. Looks like they had clearance for a normal clip, prob just wanted to save 0.004c  >:(

If it's anything like my accurate, it seems all but impossible, til you push up on the spool shaft from the bottom then it pops right up for easy access. Not saying it will, but worth a try.
