This was one of the reels I got from Keith. It's so fancy and high end that I can't picture myself ever using it. Frankly this thing is in such good condition - no scratches or marks at all on the reel foot - I'm not sure it's ever been used.

He encouraged me to sell anything I wouldnt use and further convinced me to not feel bad about it by setting the condition that I use some of the proceeds to get out on a charter at least once. These reels are pretty high dollar items so I could potentially get myself a spot on a boat and have enough left over to get a less fancy 2 speed.

Problem is I'm not sure what size this fella is to make a proper eBay listing. Anyone familiar with these?

I'm sure the dirty washing machine background would really drive home the high end nature of this item.

In the first pic the 2 penn reels for size comparison are a 12/0 and a 3/0

The number "9" on the bottom edge of the left side plate designates the size.

Fascinating. I didn't know that. Thanks. I'd always gone by the number of holes in the crossbar along with general size.

I remember seeing that reel in his workshop when he lived in Gulf Breeze.

Super cool reel, I'm just unlikely to use this one and have limited space

Big. Valuable. Excellent shape. Unlikely to see use... Great candidate to get sold.

I haven't put this on eBay yet but its up on CL and FB marketplace for $900 obo, with rhe knowledge I'll likely get offers for less than that. I'm open to offers if anyone here wants it.

Honestly there's 2 other 9C on eBay, one for $500 and one for $700, and both habe been there at least 2 months, but mine is in far better condition than either. So 900 seems reasonable. Also, I'm not really a greedy person. I might be able to hold.out for 100-200 more, but if it takes a year longer to find that magical right buyer, that ain't worth it. I wanna get out on a charter for red snapper season and this is about my only way to do that.

It just reinforces to me what I already knew: reels are a poor choice for investment if making a profit is the intent. I'm selling this basically new item for roughly 1/3 what it retailed for. And that was 1994 dollars. So thats probably the equivalent of like 5 grand today. And I'm listing it for 900. That stings a bit.

I think it's a really well built solid reel but the newer ones like that one probably 80s or 90s don't seem to bring the money like the older ones. $900 might be a stretch but good luck !!   John Taylor
