Title: Penn 4400ss drag problem
Post by: tomolalla on May 17, 2019, 08:42:29 PM
I kayak fish and occasionally get my penn reel wet. This will make my drag stop producing tension and just slip if i tighten it.  It may take days before it drys out and works again.  Is this a common problem?  Is there a way to fix quickly if it happens?

The quickest method is to just have another complete spool spooled up and ready to switch out.

Then you can clean them both up after you get home, and your fish are on the BBQ.

Best,

Fred

If you are fishing braid be sure the spool arbor was taped before knotting the braid to the spool.  If you are fishing mono, please ignore.

5 turn (around arbor) then arbor knot with long tag will not slip ;)
