It's a super small knot and easy to tie. It might be a good alternative to a San Diego knot especially with high pound test leaders.....

Anyone use a Springer knot?

Not yet. But I love me some simplicity, so I'mina start. Looks like a great rough conditions knot.

It works for 100# and down but I have trouble with over 100#.

In my humble opinion its easy to remember and tie butt works better for heavy and or stiff mono.  80 pounds or more,  it makes a nice small knot,  yes,   butt test it first a few times by pulling it for all you can at home somehow.   I've  been surprised to see it fail randomly? ???

I tied that on the Excel after seeing that video of JC mis-tying a Spangler and calling it a Springer.  It was my fiirst attempt and I landed a 298.8!  Lost a big one the next day when the hook pulled after an hour and got a 321 the day after that.  I feel confident in the Springer tied with 130# Seguar Premier!

After I read Mark's report, this is all I use for my salmon knots on 20lb to 50 lb sufix.
