Title: Foam Grip Replacement Tip
Post by: nelz on April 05, 2019, 02:13:08 PM
Just wanted to share a successful bit of "McGivering" I resorted to for installing a new (front) EVA grip on an old flea-market rod that I didn't want to strip down just for that. Both grips were pretty mangled up but I really liked the rod.

The new grip was an exact fit so there was no way to slide it down from either end. What I ended up doing was splitting it front to back with a single edge razor, very carefully making the cut nice and neat. After spreading the usual epoxy onto the rod I fit the grip on and let the epoxy spread into the cut area as well, wiping off the excess. Used masking tape to hold it all in place for a while, and viola! The result was great, the grip looks nice and new and the seam is virtually invisible.

Followed that up with a shrink wrap on the butt grip and the old rod has a new life!
