sorry this is the exact video. However, I did a short search, there are many other brands that produce similar products.

Penn / Re: Penn 712 and 710 gear swap...

Now that I'm thinking about it, how slow would one haveta crank a bottom dweller up to prevent major gas expansion(swim bladder)and blood embolisms from occurring? I know, but I didn't wanna start a whole new thread... Deep SCUBA diving with standard equipment/breathing gas, requires several timed stops on the way back up to rid yourself of excess Nitrogen, so you can avoid the bends.

Amen! Miss Keith also.  He made my Shimano Calcutta 50 gt, 200, and 400 te's sing sweet songs.

FOR SALE: Penn Surfmaster 100 with full Newell kit (aluminum spool and bars with graphite/stainless base and rod clamp) in original box with catalog, wrench and lube. $125 including shipping to anywhere in the USA.

This reel has a few tiny marks, but appears to be in unused and near perfect condition.  The Newell aluminum bars and spool are still a lustrous dark black rather than the faded and/or blotchy finish commonly seen on even unused Newell-Penn components.  The chrome and side plates are as bright and glossy as when they left the factory.  It would be hard to find a nicer example.

We like to use Venmo and Zelle, but if you don't have those, we can do PayPal as well.

Please PM me or post here if you are interested and need to see close up photos.

Quote from: JasonGotaProblem on April 23, 2024, 10:53:34 PMVery nice. One I built in a similar configuration with the steel main and sleeve and a 5 stack dragged in a black tip in under a minute.
Ooh, I forgot to mention, mine has the steel main gear as well. I can't wait to try it out on a sizable yellowtail or tuna up to 30 lb. The 3:1 gear ratio is lower than the low speed on my Okuma Metaloid 5ii (3.8:1) and almost as low as a Penn Fathom II FTH25ii (2.8:1).

Thanks! Ha ha! My upgrade comment is certainly debatable. The Newell conversion was lighter, but the upside for me is that it is now prettier, stronger, I find the base and clamp to be easier to work with when putting the reel on a rod and it stays tight more reliably.
