Hey all, I have a spooling problem where the line is stacking towards the top of the spool. I have read that it may need a washer of some kind but I'm not sure where it should go. It may be related to the fact that I can't remove the spool with the button on the top and I don't want to force it.
I guess that's actually two issues, haha!
Anyway any advice would be appreciated.

The washer/or washers go in between the spool and click gear . They are about
.020 thick , you can make them if have to . plastic containers ,gasket material ,cork ,copper washers or carbon fiber . Looks like you need one .015 -.020 thickness . You can fine tune with thinner washer also .
One on the stem and two spares sitting on the spool..

Chances are good that all you need to even the line loading issue on the spool —- is a couple of the proper washers.
These go on top of the ratchet wheel, between the bottom of the spool and the ratchet wheel. The non-metal one goes on first, the brass one next.
If you need to upgrade your drag stack back to new —- here are the (6) parts you need on the right.
If the brake spindle button is jammed —- it might come loose with a penetrating oil bath overnight. If not, here is a new brake spindle and a new ratchet wheel.
Very possibly, the simplest explanation is that the spindle button became jammed (either rust or crud) —- guy removed the drag nut, pulled off the spool, then when he couldn't fix the issue —- just put it back together —- and forgetting where the (2) under-spool washers went.
The reel looks clean, as does the black spool.
Also, when spooling on the line —- it should be 1/8" below the upper lip of the spool. Otherwise, loops of line will come off and make a problem when fishing.
If you need any of these parts —- they will be available for 24 hours on my bench — everything pictured (10) parts —- $10 + $5 shipping.
;D I will add , some times our fat thumbs have a hard time pushing the release button .
When the drag knob is off try pushing it again .

I'll try a PB Blaster soak overnight and see what happens tomorrow. It's so stuck I can't even remove the brake spindle. I may take you up on the parts if I have no luck, thank you Fred!

It came apart! Working perfectly now, it was really grimed up, whew. Fred, I still might pm you for washers though.
I got another 330 in the mail today and it looks like the bails are different on each. Was this a different version?
Yes, there were a couple of versions of 330 bails with the same part number. One has a straight bail wire, one is slightly angled upwards. Both work the same.
The rubber bumper on the bail assembly also aligns the line guide for proper line lay, as does the correct angle on the bail mount angle lever.
Of course, bails and handles are the two most commonly bent exterior parts on a spinning reel.
I might have 65-70 330's. Both types of bails are represented.
The 3 sized DQ reel is very adaptable to many types of fishing. Not too small, not too large —- right in the middle.

Yes, install 20-30 yards of Dacron first —- then attach the 12 lb. Mono.
Or, you can use a factory cork or plastic spacer instead of Dacron.
These are plastic spools —- so you don't want the mono expanding and breaking the spools. You can install metal spools if you get a couple off of an older DQ Finessa 285.

It's a DAM Quick, solid as can be. You could easily use 20lb. Mono or 40lb. Braid on a 330. I bought one NIB and the guy included an aluminium 285 spool with it. Well worth it.

That's good to know. I'd love to pick up an aluminum spool for sure...I may start looking. The 331 intrigues me as well with the faster retrieve ratio.
I would fix this bail , straighten it a little more so the bail roller is 90 degrees , like the one on the right side in the picture . DO this before you start shimming the spool for line lay .
By all rights the way it is pictured the spool should have been fat bottomed ,not top heavy .

Gotcha, I actually have a new rubber bail stop (the one on there now is worn down) incoming as well as the shim washers. I'll install the new bail stop first and go from there.

Don't look for or pay for any metal spools, Scott —-
Here are a couple that I just put together for you.
They will just snap onto your 330's.
You can use the plastics for other reels or spooled backups.
The two spools are used, but in great condition.
The other 8 parts to each spool are brand new old stock (drag knobs, drags, under washers, ratchet wheels, spindles, etc.)
This is more appropriate for Snook.

In the mail today or tomorrow, depending on time available to run them down the hill to the Post Office.
Probably tomorrow, since I am replacing CV axles on my truck today —- and may not have the time or inclination today —- depending if there are snags removing the old axles, or not.
Rain coming in tonight, and for the next 7 days, except maybe clear Friday. So got to do them today, or wait until over a week from now.
