gentlemen, our 5-day trip to cedros is all set up. the dates will be august 28th to september 1st, 2023. unless the group overwhelmingly wants to fish the half day on our arrival, we will be taking that first day to relax and enjoy. it just hasn't seemed to be worth the cost or effort. we will still have three days of solid fishing with two persons per panga. if there is anyone that you would like to team up with, that's fine. fishing with the same pair on the same boat gives everyone a chance to get used to each other. otherwise we will be rotating again.
check your schedules and let me know if you can make it. rosie is requesting a 50% deposit as soon as you can. thanks! alan

will do.
I Zelled in the deposit
I know Alan suggested no fishing on the arrival day, but I would really like to go out for some calico fishing. Anyone else interested in fishing the afternoon for some Calicos? My plan is to throw some swimbaits around, last year I managed to catch 5 calicos on my homemade swimbaits on the last afternoon and I would like to try to do it again, but try it on the first day instead of the last... Rich
Rich,
I won't be there, but if you walk down to the beach ans out to the rocks, I'm sure you can nail a few calicos from the beach.

How is the parking situation at the CBX? Are reservations necessary?

Been crowded lately. Reservations recommended.
Amazingly smooth flight.
The island is as beautiful as ever.
Easy landing.
Four of the guys went fishing already, the rest of us are relaxing.
Tracy and I get the honeymoon suite!
From the lodge.
Beautiful location! Are you allowed to fish from shore? Any rooster fish there?
Looks prime. Y'all at Lodge 1 or 2? Headed there in 3 weeks - can't wait!

It would have to be a pretty lost rooster. They get them occasionally as far north as Bahia Magdalena. Water is usually too cold inshore around Cedros.

I hate I missed this trip. I'm sure Tracy can find another photographer to record all the fish he catches.
I just got back to GA from San Antonio late Sunday night (27th). Attended the 77th reunion of the 101st Airborne Division. Spent some quality time with a lot of guys I served with in VN 52 years ago. Might have been some alcohol involved.
An interesting but sad side note: this was the 1st reunion that NO World War II veterans attended! RIP
Pencil me in for Cedros next year. Hopefully the 101st reunion in Springfield MO next year will not overlap Cedros.

American Heroes, all of you! Thank you. Bill

It's hard to tell who that handsome fellow is due to the glare off all the bald domes in the photo. ;D
These 9 guys were all members (some at different times) of my unit in VN. The Kingsmen of B Company, 101st Aviation Bn, 101st Airborne Division.
Band of Brothers

Thank you for your service Mike!

Some of you may recognize/remember Tom Robinson (4th from left). He was on the 2020 SoA 8 day. His bad knee couldn't handle the stairs so he spent most of the trip in the galley. He's one of a very few door gunners in VN to earn a Distinguished Flying Cross.
GA Mike
I enjoyed having him on the boat.
That was the 1st time I flew down the west side of the island... both directions... nice scenery! I caught 7 YT on Tuesday, none on Wednesday south in the Victory at Sea conditions and 12 on Thursday... 17 of the 19 YT were yo-yoing, one on a Colt sniper and one on dropper loop. It wasn't a good trip for throwing surface iron... but I certainly tried, I caught Calicos, 'cuda and Bonito though! I think a lot of my fish, including my nice Sheepshead, went home with someone else!
