Hi there,
I recently acquired a Curado 300EJ for a price I could not refuse...however after a few weeks, I noticed a small crack on the bottom part of the frame (under the line winder) and do not wish to buy a brand new frame just to replace that crack.
I'm curious if anyone here has experience repairing these frames or any other creative suggestions to fixing this? Or if the best bet is to leave it as-is?
I will post photos later of the crack for reference.
Not sure about the 300 but on the 200, that bit under the level wind is plastic. The frame is the top bar. Take him apart and have a look, post up some photos.
Cheers,
Andrew
So after looking at it a little closer, it might be part of the "thumb rest" (BNT 3991) but I'd have to take it apart to confirm. Close-up pics below

As long as a chip on the other side doesn't interfere with the level wind going back and forth you can ignore that as it's not structural. I had one much worse than that that I lived with until I finally bought a new piece to replace it.
X2, but I'd be worried about what caused that crack, to begin with
not liking that 2nd pic :( specifically, the frame/sideplate/cover gaps -- corner, next to the crack
...I may be spoiled -- I'm only familiar w/ older, smaller Curado/Chronarch/Scorpion/Metanium
Thanks for the feedback, guys. I'll leave it alone and maybe keep the reel cover on it while it rests on any rod holders since I'm guessing that's how it cracked in the first place.
I see all sorts of Curado 300s. Muskie guys are pretty hard on reels. I wouldn't worry about it as it is not really structural. Cheap and easy fix if you want to replace it. Shimano gets parts to me in Canada in about 10 datys
I'd probably stick a pin down in the crack to open it up a bit, then carefully drip some superglue in there.
Got it. I'll probably think about it for a couple days and decide whether to replace that piece or just go the super glue route since this reel probably won't be fished too heavily.
