Title: Older Curado 201b
Post by: unclebass on September 01, 2011, 12:26:10 AM
I have several older Curados that I keep in excellent repair and they all still work flawlessly. One however has a problem I can't seem to track down. I noticed it first when setting the hook and my hand slipped off the reel handle. I heard a clacking like gears not fully engaged. The pinion and main gear look good and seem to have a good seat. I'm wondering if the spool pin and the bottom of the pinion gear are not staying engaged. I replaced the yoke springs and even stretched them a little for more force but if I spin the handle and stop it quickly problem still persists. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Bob

Any idea which parts are causing the noise?

it's the cross pin banging against the pinion gear.  not to worry.  the two will mesh eventually.
