Hidy. I'm in Texas and know nothin bout fixin a reel but I tore a Penn 209 apart last night, to thouroughly clean it.

Hi.

The LW is a PIA on these but they are mostly basic Penn design.  Do a serch and I think there is a tutorial on them, 9, 209 and 309 are all similar.

yeah, not the best one to start on.  when you try to get the levelwind assembly put together, use a rubberband to hold the reel together while you wiggle everything into place.    and welcome!!!!

First time I took one of those LW's apart...there was much swearing upon trying to put it back together.

Just take it slow. The pics in the guide really help with positioning.

This works.  Be careful everything is inplace before tightening screws, the tailplates will easily crack (ask me how I know).

The 209 isn't that bad.
My biggest problem was adjusting the level wind mechanism.

One more question. Where is the best place to buy parts. It needs clutches and a spare pawl. I tink this will put it in shape to fish with.
