Title: Don't you love it when they come out in pieces
Post by: steelhead_killer on March 26, 2017, 10:22:58 PM
S series Newell clicker screw:  At least it came out!  Never had so many screw problems on a Newell.  What was weird is the screw head just  popped off will very little force and it goes into the side plate.  So the corrosion just ate the SS screw?

Sometimes bearings come out that way too.

Looks like a neglect issue. Nothing is salt proof. Newell's instructions were to drop the reel in a bucket of fresh water for a soak after fishing salt water.

Now's a good time to replace it with an all metal clicker kit.  With all the Newell reels I've worked on have never seen this kind of corrosion around the plastic clicker button.  Makes me believe someone used an iron screw in there.
