Nice job on catch and release. Nice to keep those big breeders going. Is it true that all halibut over 48 - 50" are females and over 8 years old. That is what I have been told by a few different sources. I was also told that females don't begin to reproduce until over 8 years old.
If you ever get the chance I would be interested in seeing photos of your various halibut set ups.

I caught and released 5 halibuts in the 200 - 250 lbs. range on this trip.

Those were some great trips. I hope we can get together if you are ever down visiting your uncle. I guarantee you I can not compete with Gary. We have to drive 2 or 3 hours to the water. My boat isn't near as well set up as Gary. I tend to do more fishing than catching. However if it works out I would be glad to do some fishing with you. I am thinking I may need a red cooler.
