Title: DAM Quick 270-Help!
Post by: D1FISHR on September 17, 2016, 08:59:58 PM
I recently picked up a DAM 270 that will not turn. I already have one of these reels, so I am fairly farmilar.  There was a little sand under the spool and old grease in the housing, but was otherwise complete and clean.  The axle (part #100-657) will not release from the driveshaft (part #100-689). It is frozen as one unit and spins freely in the housing, but I just can't get them apart.  Thoughts, ideas, suggestions are welcome and needed!  Thanks.

Problem solved!  Look out striped bass and bluefish.

How'd you free them up? I was going to suggest penetrating oil, cyclic heating/cooling, or heating the outer part while icing the inner part.

Never mind, I see your answer in the other thread. Just FYI, it's sufficient just to post in one place, keeps things tidier, and we all see all the messages anyway, so posting the same question in a few places doesn't really serve much purpose.

Sid,
Thanks for your response.
I just used penatrating oil and some elbow grease. I was concerned that the parts were threaded or machined.  It's good as new now. Look out stripers!
