Title: TEK 300 drag troubles
Post by: Haifisch on July 24, 2021, 03:37:55 AM
So I am working on a couple Tekota 300 line counter reels for a charter guy, he says the reels go from not quite enough drag, to locked up drag in one click. A general inspection doesn't show any troubles and I have new, greased smooth drags in them. Any ideas on what to look for? I am leaning towards a new drive shaft since the washers have put some marks in it. The drive shaft bearing and the anti reverse bearing are in good shape and free to move.

gummed up stock drag washers would be the easy answer.  hopefully changing them out will fix the problem.   :-\

ah, yes, it would have helped if i read your post more carefully.  if they check out, talk to him and see if he can reproduce the problem.   :-\
