Title: Daiwa AG9000X
Post by: miamipescador on July 27, 2012, 12:45:27 AM
Hey guys, been a long term lurker and recent member and have learned tons from this site. It's time to start giving back.
A friend brought over this reel and told me to re-grease the insides.
I still have alot to learn but this is my basic procedure to all spinning reels that do not have any noticeable AR or bearing issues. I always check after i do everything to make sure the reel is smooth the way it is supposed to be, but i seldom open up under the rotor.

Schematic:http://schematics.planetseafishing.com/downloads/daiwa/fixed-spool/spinning-reel-series/daiwa-spinning-ag9000x(9091-59).pdf (http://schematics.planetseafishing.com/downloads/daiwa/fixed-spool/spinning-reel-series/daiwa-spinning-ag9000x(9091-59).pdf)

Ok well that being said let's start off.

Here is the reel

This one is missing a piece on here(Owner has it)

Let's start off by removing the spool
A quick look at the drag knob

The top side of the spool

And the bottom side

Remove the drag washers

Dirty huh?
Use Cal's grease to lube the washers, these seem like a Teflon like material
(http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p53/jorge121990/WP_000920.jpg)
Reassemble the whole stack, then put some more cal's on the top of the spool
(http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p53/jorge121990/WP_000922.jpg)
Now let's see whats in the drag knob
(http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p53/jorge121990/WP_000924.jpg)
Clean these out and install them back in place
(http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p53/jorge121990/WP_000925.jpg)
On the bottom side of the spool, clean off old grease and apply a little bit to the clicker. I use Penn blue grease for this

Remove the handle lock screw and the handle. Clean and grease the exposed areas, and drop a drop of oil on the grip bushing.

Clean and grease the drive gear
(http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p53/jorge121990/WP_0009522.jpg)
Both sides
(http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p53/jorge121990/WP_000953.jpg)
Clean and grease the sideplate
(http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p53/jorge121990/WP_0009542.jpg)
Apply a drop of grease to the screw holes
(http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p53/jorge121990/WP_000955.jpg)
ALL DONE!

thank you very much.  if you can measure out the drag washers (id x od x th) i would like to send you a set of drag washers for your reel.  they may have to be hand cut, but you will love the results!  alan

Thanks again for all the replies.  I finally got into the reel today, but am a little stuck moving forward into it.  The gears look better than when I had first opened up the case and probably do not need to be replaced.  I am not sure how to remove the rotor assembly from the main body or remove the anti-reverse.  If anyone has a suggestion, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks all,

Matt

Where the rotor and it's gear enter the body if the reel you will find a "clip" of some fashion that will pull out. Then you can remove the rotor.

It's usually a flat U shaped clip.
