Title: The Mom Halibut that wouldnt fight.
Post by: gstours on December 11, 2021, 01:03:18 AM
I had a chance last summer to take some good friends fishing "just for the Halibuts"    weather was good,   we anchored in a spot where we have got some good fish in the past.   We we intersted in just fishing bait on a hook behind the boat with rods in rodholders.
We used herring and some pink salmon scraps for bait with a couple of pounds of lead,  anchored in about 150 feet of tidewater.
After a while we shook a couple of juvinile halibut and kept going interested in something better.     Then one rod got a heavy hit,   the fish was hooked,  pulled heavily for a while then kinda quit.   We got it up and released it.    I had a dedicated filmer,   it was fun.
      Wish you were there, ;)
