Title: Extra Drag Washer in 113h
Post by: Bayer on February 02, 2009, 07:43:12 PM
Terrific site.  Having learned so much here about reel maintenance, I decided to open up one of my 5 year old Penn 4/o's and see how bad things were inside.  They don't see that much action and I am always careful about washing them, but until now was hesitant to open them up.  I saw right away that I should have been doing this from the beginning, but they're not too far gone.  One thing that I noticed is that mine has an additional smooth drag washer than is shown on any of the schematics (including the one that came with the reel).  One appears to be thicker than the other 5, too.  This reel has always had a small range for the drag and I'm wondering if this extra washer is the reason.  Any ideas?   Birk

you mean an extra metal washer, right?  some of them come like that.  no worries.  just grease the ht-100's and you're good.  alan

Yes, the extra is a metal washer.  Thanks.
