Title: Abu 6000 spool bushing to bearing switch problem
Post by: festus on October 06, 2017, 05:29:54 PM
I removed the spool bushing (part 19843) on my 8 year old Abu 6000 and replaced it with a bearing (part 13472).
Since this substitution, I cannot get the handle side plate to seat properly without removing the spool spring washer (part 13104).

My question is will it damage the reel to use it without this spool spring washer? It casts great and I can feel or hear no difference in the function of the reel.

you should be good.  it's just a matter of spacing.

try loosing the spool shaft know a little.  It should work fine.  I replaced numerous bushings with bearings without removing the spring washer.

Thanks Bryan, I backed out the spool tension knob and got the side plate to fall in place.
