Title: Braided line holding salt water
Post by: sandbar on October 05, 2020, 11:43:30 PM
I've purchased a couple of reels in the last year that were spooled with braided line.
When I removed the old line I discovered a corroded spool that I didn't bargain for.
I'm assuming braid holds water and can stealthily (new word) destroy spools.
What's the fix and is that a common issue?

A couple of coats of a good (car) wax or a light coating of marine reel grease.           Rudy

Rudy, is that the cure, or the prevention?  ;)

I am in the same boat. Mechanically speaking this one is GTG as I just went through it, I have no idea what may lie beneath the braid.
