Yup, the map is awesome. Alan Tani...a household name.
it would be nice if we could get guys to tell us where they're from. looks like some pretty exotic locations. alan
I'm in East London,UK and it's not very exotic!
I´m from Lehrberg, Bavarian, Germany
I'm in the Emerald Isle. Green and wet.
Raleigh, NC. Not exotic, and certainly not close enough to the water.
I'm from Perth in Western Australia, Home of the America's Cup when it meant something.
Dave Bentley
Sunny San Jose, California, although it's supposed to rain today.
San Diego, CA. 8)
Juneau, Alaska -- and I'm here every day.
Redding, CA. Unless I'm lucky enough to be on the ocean (4 hours west :P).
South Louisiana, elev. 6', were dealing with an oil spill down here right now.....
Here in Campbell, Ca. Lots of time in Paso Robles, too!

Beautiful Boise Idaho but I travel weekly and do get time to fish the whole west coast and Alaska along with the occasional trip to the southern gulf.
Phoenix Arizona checking in.
Sonoma county, CA.... and thinking hard on following Joels' path south to Panama.
The high desert in Southern CA. It's a long way to the ocean!.... :'(
I'm in sunny southeast London England UK Europe ;D ;D ;D
Long Island, New York...
Home of some fantastic fishing an the world record Fluke (Summer Flounder) :)
kapolei, hawaii

Hi there,
A New Zealander, living in Japan - and the fishing isn't good here...
Simon
Lorton, VA - 10 minutes south of Washington DC
Long Island, NY aka "lawn guyland"
Wellington New Zealand.
No one from my state chimed in yet, so:
Oregon! Bend, about 4 hours from the coast. :(
Wow! A lot of diversity here.
Me, I live in Norfolk VA now. You guys in San Diego can relate to the Navy influence. Also, the lower Chesapeake Bay is home to the largest manmade reef aka the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
Pinole, CA
I'm in Paradise....AKA Sydney! :D
Central Minnesota in the summer and Port Mansfield Texas in the winter. :)
Sydney, Australia
Guess I'm the only cheesehead on the site, Stoughton, Wisconsin. 90 miles due west of Lake Michigan, but a little closer to some of the 6,000 other lakes.
Weott, CA. Right next to the Redwoods State Park.
Yantis, texas . Located in the piney woods of East Texas on this old pond known as Lake Fork
Gold Coast... the 'Miami' of Australia but without Don Johnston ;D
If you're wondering just where that is, when I'm on line it's the little flashing dot on the central, East coast of Australia. If you look closely you can see me sitting at my computer. When the dot isn't flashing if you look closely you'll see me just offshore in my boat enjoying some really diverse fishing. :D

cleared it again. i know one guy can hold the cursor over a blinking dot and the name of the city pops up. my computer would never do that.
I'm from the Great State of New Jersey, USA. Home of the world record Striped Bass. Birthplace of Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, Jack Nicholson and Danny DeVito to name a few. Home stadium for both the NY football Giants and the Jets as well. The state that made the "Sopranos" famous. Home of the best tasting tomatoes in the world. Minutes from the real Jersey Shore. And, a short ride to the city so nice they named it twice NY, NY. Lastly, but never leastly, home to some of the finest inshore fishing the east coast has to offer. I love this place. May not be exoctic, but certainly something for everyone. Glad my Irish immigrant father decided to settle here.
Edited today 2/22/11. By the way still one of the two remaining coastal states without a saltwater registration/ license fee. Signed into law by Gov. Christie today! Now, if only he could lower my property taxes. Come to my state and fish for free!
my kid was watching a clip from "the real housewives of new jersey" and said, "i'm glad mom's not like that!" i almost snorted my drink!
I'm from the beautiful city of Cape Town in South Africa!!

I'm in sunny 300 days a year 8) Salt Lake City, Utah!....though I claim North Carolina as home.
Great site Alan! You've reel-ly assisted my reel learning curve!
Steve-O
In Tasmania, that most southerly red dot at 43S below mainland Australia could be me.
I'm listed as Westmead...in Sydney. Not quite there, but close enough. ::)
Oceanside, California. Three minute drive to the ocean. We have an 1800ft pier that a bunch of people fish off of. Originally from Erie, PA, 5 minute drive from Lake Erie.
Does the map actually pick up where you are sending from? Mine probably shows something like Atlanta, that's where the satellite internet service is located. Actually 6 miles South of Los Frailes, Baja. 40 years in LA area, 18 on Maui, 5 years here.
On a 125' tugboat in Norfolk, Virginia...
Danny
Looks like someone's signing in from the middle of the Australian desert, more chance of dying of thirst than catching fish there.
There's a dot on Viti Levu, Fiji Islands..... That's me... Bula Everyone!!
Alan - re your 'question' as to The middle East - 'Jolly jack' here in Sunny Dubai in The UAE; although reckon best fishing in Region is out of what we call The Northern Emirates and Oman. One has to watch that you dont stray across "the border' into "The Nuclear state'. Our Season is contra to elsewhere - too hot in Summer, even the fish Migrate! - Winter peak season.
Great , Informative site

Dustin, not to worry. She will probably go after me when I'm there messing up the garage. You should see how I left it. Alan jumping over all kind boxes and containers. Not to mention his work bench. ::)

As you can see, I've taken over his new work bench.
If you are wondering, those are Tiburon frames, spools and kits. Will be getting a list together shortly if you are interested. Mainly Penn frames. I think there may be 1 TLD 20 and 1 TLD 30 frame that is left in the bunch.
I'm looking at upgrading some of my reels and will be checking out the list to see what I can't live without. Thanks for helping Alan, Bryan. And you really should trade your ball cap for a hard hat, though, in case Alan's wife catches up to you. ;D ;D Are you going to post a picture of the new and improved shop/warehouse/garage/man-cave sometime?

not sure. it picks me up in san francisco when i am at work and in saratoga when i'm at home.

must be a problem on my end. About 75% of the time - not always - all I see in a photo from photobucket, is a kitten and the words ''CLICK for photos" and above that in small letters '' photos not found.'' nothing happens when I click. . . The curser arrow does not even change to a pointing finger like it does when there is something there to open.
If anybody know about computers, perhaps they can post a fix - assuming it is a problem with my laptop. remember it doesn't always have a kitten in place of a photo. Come to think of it, perhaps the pictures I'm viewing aren't posted FROM photobucket.
Anyway, longer story shortened - I can see no map.
Cheers, Greg

The map is only at the top of the "Home" page here: http://alantani.com/index.php
Your photo viewing problem is a totally different issue and discussed in numerous threads over here: http://alantani.com/index.php?board=114.0
You'll have to sort through the 4 pages of topics there to get the complete story and fixes. Basically, Photobucket went off the deep end a couple of years ago, high jacked peoples pics and tried to charge for basic photo storing. Some people decided to not use them anymore.

Yes I found the photo on the first page but, as mentioned it is just a picture - of a cat. Always photbucket's picture is a cat. no link to click, just that kitten picture and ''click here'' printed across the picture.
I have no problems uploading photo s, I don't use photobucket. I scroll down to the bottom of my ''almost ready to post'' message and click the little plis sign by ''Additional options'' , then click ''choose file'' and that opens my pictures album on my computer. click on the picture I want and it's loaded.
I have grandkids ranging from 1 year to 16 yrs. I will get anyone of them to fix this. ( well, maybe not the 1 year old, but for sure the 8 year old and up ) Me? I can't even turn this d*** thing back on if it crashes.

Julianadorp, the Netherlands! Very close to the beach! Never theless prefer to fish pike in the "polder"! Polder is a dutch word... cannot translate, sorry for my poor English..
I thought Polders were reclaimed land - isolated from the sea :-\

As I understand it polders have been drained but some polder areas may still have water that has been pumped back in.

I notice the map,,,,, :o and the middle of the us has filled up,,,,,, ;) how did that happen,,,,,,,,?
Been in Atascadero, CA the last 30 or so years and probably will be here for the duration. Originally from northeast MS, between growing up years with mom & dad and career years with wife and kids i've lived in:
Hutchinson, KS; Perry, GA; Franklin, KY; Starkville & Natchez, MS; Walnut Creek & San Diego, CA.
Have daughter and grandkids in Fairhope, AL, so if we ever left Atascadero, that is where we'd go.
So, pin me in any place that needs someone there!
i cleared the map. it does get cluttered after a while!
I guess we are at defcon 5 now,,,, ;) hehe,,,,,,,, ;D
