Here is a rod that I'm rebuilding for a customer that he has picked the colors for the wrap and I chose Fuji guides.
Joe
Nice! Is that an old GatorGlass blank? My hats off to you for keeping your workspace so clean. I have pieces of thread everywhere.

That was taken before I applied the first coat of epoxy. I just finished the first coat this afternoon, I'LL take pictures when it is finished.
The rod building area looks clean after I cleaned it up, but it was a mess before :). My reel work area doesn't look so good, I need a bigger are to work, but since we are going to move next year I"m not going to mess with that.
Joe
looking good Joe
what kind of guides are you using?
Fuji and the blue is Fuji also. The customer wasn't particular about the guides but I told him I only use Fuji on light to MH rods. He was good with that.
Joe
Looks good Joe!

It will look even better when I finish the 3 coats of epoxy. It was a bear to doable wrap the guides over the decorative under wrap. I would have preferred to use plain wrap.
Joe
Can you post a picture of one of the guides, with wrap, close up? I'm curious to see what you did there, but can't tell from the farther away pics.
Looks pretty sweet from what I can see though!

Ruth took those pictures sorry, but I wrapped the guides up & down. Up meaning I wrapped from the foot to the guide. I will take pictures after I finish the third coat and when it's hard enough to handle.
Joe
Looks Great Joe!

Looks Great Joe!
Thanks Daren. something was said about the location of this post on Jon's site. I did not realize that that was the wrong place for my post. So if you could move it to the proper place it would be appreciate.
Joe
It has been taken care of. ;)
Looks damn good man. I need to learn how to build rods one of these days.
In your new place, you might look at a slightly longer work bench, especially if you start doin surf rods. Our work benches are over 15' long for some of the one piece rods we have to build. :) :)
Jeri: Your right, I only had room for the 8' wrapper which is not 8' of work area. I bought a 4' extension in exceptions of having the room in the next home.
However I have room in the basement and have work benches that are very long with reloading presses and work bench for gun repair. I have not thought of changing this area because working in the basement is very hard on my knees so I Nixed that Idea.
Joe
Here is some pictures of the finish rod. I apologize for some of the dark pictures but were are having some bad weather here Rain and flooding.
Joe
Wow , those wraps look awesome Joe. Great job...
Brett

Nice one Joe.

Well Joe, what is there left to say, everone has already said it, its not until we have a go at rapping, our selves, that we know what a great job you do on your rods, congrats, cheers Don.
You guys are more then gracious and thank you. I have a lot to learn especially from guys like Jon and Dwight and others. I am willing to learn as much as I can retain at my age ::) ;) but it is true. I have to read things at least two or three times to grasp what the author is trying to point out.
Again thank you all for those complements:............................Joe
You are not alone Joe,
I was trying to learn a new knot a few weeks ago.
It was a simple knot for heavy mono, but I had to watch the video at least 10 times before I got it right.
That rod looks great after the clear coat.
That is something I have never done.
Daron
Nice rod,the time and patience paid off.
Rod is curing in the hot room, next I'LL test it for cast-ability and ark. It's an older rod but I want to see if its working fine before I let it go.
Joe
