Title: Weather Nov 6
Post by: theswimmer on November 03, 2016, 06:29:32 PM
Looks like we dodge the bullet.....or not?

The big event peaks on Friday.
The 12 - 15 footers don't bother me too much but the 13 - 14 foot   interval can make for an adventure of an afternoon.
Looks like it all tapers off heading towards Sunday.
Good for us.....

The SF  Bay coast is forecast for waves in the 30 foot range along the beaches. :o

Morning report for SLO County: Very large, powerful, WNW swell is peaking today, offering up well overhead-double overhead surf to good exposures, while deepwater standouts see 3x OH sets on the right tides.  Many breaks are overwhelmed.  Winds are steady from the ENE now, allowing for mostly clean conditions.  Tide is rising to a 4.73' at 12:38PM. Use caution and good judgement out there today, there is a lot of power!

Short-Term Forecast for SLO County: Size holds through the day, peaking around noon.  Winds swing to a light W later.  Tide drops to a 0.66' at 8:19PM.

Looks a little snotty.

Low tide was at 6:38 am, The jetties are about 16-18 feet tall at this water level.
Watch the swell come inside the south jetty about every 3 minutes +/-
You will see a wave at the top of the jetty :o

we may do that.  our trip might get scrubbed.  big swells and a low tide might shut down the harbor entrance on sunday morning.  for anyone traveling that has not left yet, sit tight until the end of the day.  the landing will call us and let us know.  the coast guard will make the call this afternoon.
